During the holiday season, many patients wonder if they can go on vacation or fly with a catheter. They wonder if they can travel abroad with it, and once they get to the beach or pool – if they can swim too.
These questions are well-founded and legitimate. With this article, we want to prepare you for the most wonderful time of the year, so you can start the relaxing days with a good feeling.
Can I go on vacation with my catheter? Even abroad?
Consult your doctor when preparing for your vacation. He or she can provide you with individualized care and advice. You also need to make sure you order enough drainage material in advance to ensure you have enough material with you on your vacation.
You can take the drainage material abroad and use it there.
Please observe local regulations when disposing of the waste.
If you experience any discomfort during your trip, seek medical attention immediately and show your catheter passport.
