New patients with tunneled drainage catheters

Guidance for healthcare professionals planning for an IPC drainage catheter.

Getting started with planning

Once a patient is scheduled for an indwelling catheter implantation, planning can begin. If necessary, we at ewimed:

  • Helping to order the necessary materials
  • Support you with staff training
  • Book patient education after implantation

We are here to support you before, during and after the catheter is implanted.

Basic steps

As soon as the patient has been given a date for the implantation of an indwelling catheter, you can start planning for the patient’s home discharge.
Will the patient manage the drainage themselves, or is care planning needed?
